What are CMA and RMA?

CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) and RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) are both voluntary, national credentials awarded by different organizations for the medical assisting profession. Certification means a professional edge, increased prestige among colleagues, and greater job security. Both credentials require similar exams.

Practice Exams for CMA & RMA

LearningExpress Library, Job & Career Accelerator, and Workforce Skills for 21st Century Success are no longer available through the Ohio Web Library; however, they are now available through OhioMeansJobs.

To find these resources on go to the Online Training page. If you want to be able to save your progress in a practice test, course, etc., you should click on the green backpack in the upper right to create an account or sign in. It will look like this:

To use these resources anonymously, without saving your progress, click on the green "Access Learning Express Anonymously" button. It will look like this:

  • RMA and CMA Practice Exams - Learning Express Library  Icon
    Set up your account in any Ohio library, then log in from anywhere (instructions below). On the "All Centers" menu, click "Career Center". On the "Resources" menu, click "Prepare for an Occupation Exam". Click on "Prepare for Medical Assistant Certification"

    Look for "Registered Medical Assistant Practice Exam" (1 and 2) and "Certified Medical Assistant Practice Exam" (1 and 2). Each timed test gives you 200 questions and immediate feedback once complete.
